Christmas Eve was truly a magical time for our family. My brother Scotty and his wife Laura drove up from the Bay Area with their twins Isabel and Aiden. Our dear friends Mike and Erin Johnson along with their two kids Kayla and Brooke also celebrated with us, as well as my mom and dad. In fact this is the third Christmas Eve we've spent with the Johnsons. It's been quite a wonderful tradition that I hope continues in years to come. We had a beautiful Lamb dinner followed by a musical Christmas program. Erin played the piano while the rest of us sang Christmas songs and read the Christmas Story. It was such a gift to have such beautiful live music in our home.

The Apron

Look at that cute apron!!! My mom and I were shopping a few months ago and stumbled across the cutest vintage aprons. Of course, I immediately fell in love with them and started drooling on the spot. However, they were way overpriced and something that I certainly couldn't justify buying for myself. So, I turned to my mom who is a fabulous seamstress and said, "You could make me one of these. They are sooooo cute!!! In fact, it would be a great Christmas present." Well, lo and behold, on Christmas Eve my mom insisted I open this one particular package. Wow, I couldn't believe that she actually made me the apron. I totally fell in love with it and didn't take it off the whole night. It really is soooo cute and I am definitely inspired to cook more just so as I have an excuse to put on the apron. Thanks Mom!!!!

Jaq and Aubrey's first trip to the Ballet

My Mom was so generous to

buy Nutcracker Tickets for her, myself and my two darling children. A great excuse to get all dressed up and experience something so lovely. It's become a tradition year after year to go the the Nutcracker Ballet with my mom. It began when I was a little girl and I have such great childhood memories of my trips to the Nutcracker with her. Now it was my turn to let my children experience the Nutcracker Ballet for the first time. It was so wonderful to share something I enjoy so much again with my mom and now own children. Our seats on the aisle in the very last row of the second balcony were surprisingly the best seats in the house. It was a perfect place for Aubrey to do her own twirling, singing, and bowing without disturbing other ballet patrons, while the rest of us were completely enthralled in the music and movement.

Trip to Monterey

We scored some free tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

It was awesome to say the least. Monterey is probably my favorite place on earth. However, it was very cold and windy the day we were there. In fact, that's why Dexter is sporting the pink scarf. Who says real men don't wear pink?

Dexter had the week off before Christmas so we took the children down to Santa Cruz for a couple days. We hopped aboard the Roaring Camp Chirstmas train. It was really so much fun. The train included hot cider, an open mike sing along, and Mr. and Mrs. Clause even paid us a visit.

Sunday Music Program

What a special day!!
My family and I went to our church music program. I sang with the Choir and then had the opportunity to sing "Oh Holy Night".

I'm so grateful they were all there to share that experience with me. Afterwards we all went to Dinner at Palermo's. Aubrey cried all through dinner but we finally got a smile out of her when the waiter brought her vanilla ice-cream.

The Melting Pot

Yummy!!!! After we survived an hour or so of ice skating we headed over to the Melting Pot for some Fabulous Fondue. We started out with Swiss Cheese Fondue and then topped it off with two different kinds of Chocolate. Yes, it was an amazing evening to say the least. So much fun and so delictable!!!

Wow, I have to say I can't remember the last time I've been ice skating. It was so much fun!!! I felt like a teenager.

Disney on Ice - Halloween Day

What a Momentous Day.!!! Jaq, Aubrey, my mom and I went to see Princesses on Ice Halloween Day. Funny Story actually about how this all came about. I went to frozen yogurt one day after school with the Kiddos and Jaq found the Sacramento Bee. Being the reader that he is, he was sure to tell my all about an ad he read in the paper about Disney Princesses on Ice coming to Sacramento. Of course, not wanting to admit that he himself wanted to watch those yellowed hair beauties in all their glory, he was quick to point out that this would be a wonderful surprise for Aubrey. Well, he was just so excited about the article that I couldn't resist. I called my mom immediately to tell her all about Jaq's advanced reading skills and his ability to let me in on the entertainment venue coming to Sacramento. She was so tickled that she volunteered to get the tickets. Well, it's a good thing Jaq can read because I never would have known about this show coming to town.
I must say it was such a marvelous experience and a great way to celebrate Halloween. My mom bought the perfect seats. We could see all the skaters so clearly. The kids were so fun to watch. They both sat through the whole thing and they thoroughly enjoyed it. It was truly magical!! The costumes, the music and the skating were a sight to behold. After the show was over, we passed by this statue of Cinderella. The cutest thing happened!!!! I just want to freeze frame all of it in my mind forever. Jaq reached down and grabbed Aubrey's hand and said, come on Aubrey let's get a picture with Cinderella. I of course did not want to spend 20 bucks on a picture but, being the sucker that I am I just had to give in. I just have never seen the two of them act like this before. Both of them usually cry at the sight of any type of Disney character. They both stood in line holding hands then when it was their turn they jumped on this Statue's lap so quickly. They were totally enamored by her. As soon as the photographer counted to three they had the biggest smiles on their faces. I now own the picture along with the Disney Magnetic Label. What a great day!!!

Wicked Weekend in San Francisco

What a Weekend we had in San Fran!!!!!

We lived it up and played tourist hard core!!

We headed up to San Fran with our friends Mike and Erin Johnson Sept. 25. When we arrived we checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Harbor Court Hotel on the Embarcadero!!! Totally Cute little boutique hotel. Next stop was a walk down the waterfront and onto a Street Car. We stopped at Pier 39!!! One of my very favorite places!!! We ate at Boudin!!! Who can resist clam chowder in a Bread Bowl? The funniest thing happened after that. We headed to the end of the Pier to take a look at Alcatraz and something caught Dex and Mike's Eye. A Party Boat? What in the world was this thing? Everyone on the Boat had their hands in the air like they were riding a roller coaster. Naturally we had to check it out. Lo and Behold it was called the Rocket Boat. Why not? So, it looked like so much fun we had to hop aboard.

What a blast that was!!!!! Dex took some great pics of our ride under the Bay Bridge.

The view of the City was spectacular!!!!! Next was back to the hotel to freshen up for our big Wicked date. Mike flagged down a town car!!!! So much fun. He took the driver's dinner recommendation for dinner. The driver dropped us off at what looked like a nice restaurant - only a block away from the Theatre. However, I was a little weary when the Name on the outside of the restaurant read, "Heaven's Dog." Seriously, what were we getting ourselves into? Well, to our surprise it was probably one of the best places I've ever eaten at. The food was a fusion of Asian and Indian cuisine!!! I had a lamb stir fry and Dexter ordered the beef Clay Pot!!! Yummy!!!

The highlight of the trip was Wicked. We all really enjoyed the show. What a marvelous experience!!

Spiderman Visits the Zoo!!!

Here are my kiddos watching Spiderman at the Sacramento Zoo. There is actually quite a cute story behind this zoo trip. Well, any of you who have met my son Jaq know that he is quite the reader. The funny thing is, because he reads just about everything, he can even fill me in on what's going on around town. So, we stopped at Tigers Yogurt after school one day and there was a stack of newspapers that included activities for kids. Well, he was so excited when he read that Spiderman was going to be stopping in at the zoo over the weekend. Well, who could resist a five year old who was able to read an advertisment right out of the newspaper? He read every single word including the date and time. I do have to say Spiderman was a bit cheesy for my taste but, the kids loved it!!!

A few more pics of our fabulous time in Monterey. The weather was perfect! Here we are at the beach, we even spent one afternoon kayaking. However, I must say I think I enjoyed the beach a little more than Dexter. While I was thoroughly enthralled in the Monterey coast and all it's majestic glory, Dexter wouldn't even take his shoes off to go wading with with me. He was much more interested in feeding the squirrels.

We stayed at the Gosby House Inn from Sunday, August 9th through Tuesday August 11th. It was such a great place to stay. The room in our Victorian Bed and Breakfast was quaint and very charming. The breakfast was pretty good actually, it consisted of quiche, fruit and muffins. In the afternoon, they provided the most delicious appetizers. All in all the experience was really fun and a perfect romantic getaway.

Dexter and I celebrated our 13th Wedding Anniversary by spending a romantic weekend in Monterey, Ca. It's become somewhat of a tradition that every year on our Anniversary weekend we cart the kids off to my mom and dad's house and we head down to Pacific Grove for a few days. It is probably one of my most favorite spots on this earth. This year seemed especially wonderful because we stayed in the most adorable place ever and the weather was perfect. In the past when Dex and I have stayed in Monterey, the weather is overcast, cloudy, and about 60 degrees. We've never seemed to mind it as it's a great escape from the 100 degree Sacramento heat. However, this year the weather was so perfect I wondered if we were in the right place. We started out on our grand escape Sunday, August 9th. Of course, the whole way down I couldn't stop talking because I was so excited to have a weekend alone with my hubby and when the kids are around I can never get a word in edgewise. So, naturally as I babbled on and on so quickly Dexter had to remind me to slow down because after all, we did have the whole weekend together.

So, the first thing we did when we got to Monterey was hit one of our favorite spots to eat, El Torrito. We both love Mexican food and the view from this place is incredible. After being on the road for almost three hours we were starving. I can't believe how much food we ate.

A Day at Apple Hill

Let me start by saying ....I have these great memories of going up to the Santa Cruz mountains the day after Thanksgiving and chopping down the ol' Christmas Tree. So, I had these grand visions of our family hiking through the woods to chop down our Christmas tree and create those same family memories.

Well, our Apple Hill experience was somewhat of a nightmare. First, we dressed for warm weather and it was more like a summer day. So, Dexter and I were sweating as we were hiking around trying to find the perfect tree. Well, being that Dexter was a logger in the Canadian Bush back in the day I thought he would love this experience. I quickly discovered that was anything but the truth. Every tree I pointed out seemed to have some flaw according to Dexter. Finally, after enduring Aubrey's endless crying (it was way past naptime) and Jaq's five year old monster temper tantrums (his opinions weren't being heard) Dexter had just about enough. So, he walked over to the first tree he thought would work and said, "I like this little guy".

First clue that his pick was not a good one. I said, "Let's go back to some of the first trees we saw." He said, "Nope I'm cutting down this one." I said whatever at this point because I was equally frustrated with the whole tree thing by now. As soon as he cut it down I wanted to cry. It was the ugliest tree I think we've ever had. I tried to be positive because after all this was my idea. The branches on this "little guy" were so sparce that it reminded me of a charlie brown christmas tree. In fact, we couldn't even use half our ornaments because they were all too heavy.

However, the saddest part of this whole adventure was when we were all loaded up into the car, the tree was roped on top of the car roof, and I looked at Dexter with all my enthusiasm of what was supposed to be a memorable day and said, "Wasn't that fun?" I truly meant it because in spite of all the complications I loved the fresh air , it was beautiful and I was determined to have it be a wonderful memorable day.

Dexter just looked at me and said, "That was not fun. Sticking my head in a bucket of ants while it's on fire would have been more fun. "

Well, you could imagine how that made me feel. So, what happened to Dexter Leger Logger? Can we say Apple Hell? Sadly, I don't think there will be anymore trips up to Apple Hill for a Christmas Tree.

Jaq's 1st Christmas Concert

Here we are at Jaq's very first school performance. I just think this is such a great picture of my family. My mom and dad look great!!! Dexter is the one taking the picture. The significance of this picture is that when Jaq told me about his school concert he insisted that all his family attend. He even went further to inform me that all his family included his Nanny and his Papo. So, I assured him that his whole family would be there. Dex got off work early and my mom made sure her and my dad would be there.
The concert was very cute. They sang all kinds of great christmas carols and provided lost of food at the end. I finally got to meet his girlfriend Elizabeth's parents.

Jaq's 5th Birthday Party

I can't believe Jaq is 5. Jaq was born Sept. 23, 2003. What a great birthday party he had. He picked out a dinosaur theme. The best part of the party was when my 75 year old dad surprised Jaq by showing up as a clown. I think everybody had a great time. Some of Jaqs friends at the party included David George, Russell Thompson, Jackson Dearing, Brady Fox, Matty Alfano, and Quinn.

What a Fabulous night!!!! Our Family took a trip down to Redondo Beach the last weekend in April to vist my very best friend Janee and her family. We got to L.A. Friday and the plan was to leave all our kids with the babysitter Saturday night so we could double date with Janee and her husband Wayne. Well, sometimes the best laid plans just don't work. Aubrey got the stomache flu Saturday afternoon so we had to cancel the babysitter. I was totally bummed because the plan was to stand in line at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood to try to win Lottery tickets to see the musical "Wicked". Dexter being the stud that he is said he would stay with the sick kids so we could have a girls night out!!!
The night was awesome!!! We got to the Pantages at 5:30 pm , just in time to put our names into the Wicked Lottery. Janee got called and she won two 25 dollar tickets to see the best musical ever!!!! So, since we had two hours to kill before the show we found a swanky sushi restaurant right across the street from theater. The place was amazing. The Sushi was out of this world and the entire staff and atmosphere was completely authentic.
Then it was showtime!!! I couldn't believe how lucky we were to win those tickets. A dream come true to see this amazing show on a night that started out anything but lucky. Thank you Janee for making my trip to L.A. so much fun.

Aubrey Turns 2

Happy Birthday Aubrey!!! Aubrey turned 2 on April 4, 2008. We celebrated by going to Letherby's ice-cream parlor. Letherby's is an old fashioned family owned parlor that has been around for a very long time in Sacramento. It was so cute to watch Aubrey blow out her candle and open her gifts. I was surprised how she required little or no guidance in opening her presents or blowing out her candle. It must be all the help she gets from her older brother. She got a bike, princess dress up jewelry, and a Dora hat from Nanny and Papo. She also got a Dora baby doll from mom and dad. It was a very memorable day.

A Great Day in Sausalito

What a beautiful sight of the Golden Gate Bridge! Dexter and I had an opportunity to take our kids to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, Ca. Most of the time San Francisco is cloudy and cold but on this particular day in March it was warm and sunny. The kids had a great time with all the hands on exhibits. We made lots of memories that day.

Girls Weekend In Tahoe

Here we are up in Tahoe!! What an amazing weekend!!!! The weather was a bit windy and cold but that definitely didn't put a damper on our fun. We shopped till we dropped and stuffed ourselves silly. Speaking of silly.... I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard that my stomache hurt!!!! What a great bunch of friends to spend the weekend with!!! The hat parade was definitely a lot of laughs!

Here is Aubrey! She is all mommy's girl and I just love it! I feel so very fortunate that I have a girl and a boy as health complications don't allow me to have any more children. What a blessing they both are in my life. Aubrey's favorite word is no!!! She says it all the time. She loves to sing. In fact, she woke us all up at 2 this morning with her singing. She's a very happy girl and smiles all the time. She is such a joy!

He loves to learn new things especially at pre-school. I just registered him for kindergarten next year. I just can't believe he'll be starting school. Where does the time go?

Dexter and I currently live in Elk Grove, Ca. Elk Grove is just outside Sacramento. We are loving life in California especially the weather. Dexter still works with Enterprise Rent A Car. He is an Area Car Sales Manager in Stockton, Ca.
I now have two lovely and very active children. Jaq (pronounced Jack) is 4 years old and Aubery Danielle will be 2 in April. They are the loves of my life.
